Abstract
The yellow-legged hornet (Vespa velutina) arrived in France from China around 2004 and has since established or been recorded in 14 other European countries. In 2023, there was a large influx into southern England. This hornet is a voracious hunter of native insects, often hunts honey bees, and attacks humans if its nest is approached or disturbed.
Description
This handbook covers hornet identification, biology, behaviour and ecology. There are also sections on the spread of these insects, how they are dealt with in the UK & Europe, tracking, trapping and other methods of control. This is a book for beekeepers, naturalists and anyone interested in invasive alien species.

This is the fully updated second edition of the Asian Hornet Handbook
